EMPLOYERS' organisation the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) announced last night it had appointed Sarah Green as its North-East director.
Ms Green joins the CBI from a two-year role as internal communications manager at regional development agency One NorthEast.
A qualified solicitor, she has held senior posts in organisations including Arthur Andersen, and international law firm Clifford Chance.
She said: "This will be an exciting challenge and I look forward to contributing to the North-East's continued regeneration."
Ms Green graduated from Sheffield University with a law degree in 1995 and trained with Clifford Chance in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and London as a commercial lawyer. She joined Arthur Andersen in 1999 and worked for three years in knowledge management and communications roles.
Before joining One NorthEast in 2003, Ms Green worked as a lecturer at the University of Northumbria.
Jamie Martin, CBI chairman for the northern region, said: "Sarah is a very accomplished individual. She brings to this important role at the CBI a great mix of private sector legal knowledge and public sector regeneration expertise."
