A YORKSHIREMAN is hoping people in Teesdale may have details of his ancestors.
John Milner, from Addingham, near Ilkley, has visited Teesdale to learn more about his family, who were from Barnard Castle and Scargill.
He has inherited correspondence, including postcards, sent to a Margaret Jane Milner, who lived in the Temperance Hotel, in Barnard Castle Market Place.
The hotel became Greenwoods Men's Clothing and now sells furnishings and gifts.
He has also seen photographs of a shop called Milner's, in Galgate, in Barnard Castle. This is now Richardson's Florists.
Mr Milner said: "There's an old photograph in the florists that shows the old shop with a lady outside, who I'm sure must be a Milner.
"A lady was in the florists who said she might be related to the woman in the photo, so I'd be keen to hear from her."
Anyone who might be able to help, can call Mr Milner on (01943) 830796.
