Consett maintained their 100 per cent record in the Second Division when they hammered Guisborough 12-1 on Saturday.

Consett are top of the table, with new signing Michael Mackay, one of the leading scorers in the First Division at Durham last season, among the goals.

Manager Kenny Lindoe said: "We set ourselves a target of 8-0 before the game, because that would have taken us to the top."

There wasn't much indication of what was to come in the first half. Kraig Wilkinson opened the scoring and Colin McKenzie got the second.

Guisborough pulled one back through Ray Woodhouse, but by half-time Consett cruised into a 4-1 lead with goals by Craig Tate and Wilkinson.

The floodgates opened afterwards when Oliver completed his hat-trick. Tate, McKenzie, Paul Curry and substitute Michael Mackay (two) also scored.

In the First Division, Tow Law boss Graeme Clark had the pleasure of beating his old club Durham 2-1 at Ironworks Road.

Durham took the lead on 22 minutes when Stuart Niven deflected the ball into his own net.

But Lawyers levelled through Scott Emmerson and he got the winner when he beat John Mohan with seven minutes left.

Shildon picked up a point against previous league leaders Newcastle Blue Star. Star's Dave Southern missed a great chance in the dying minutes when he volleyed over from six yards.

Bedlington are top after beating Brandon 5-0 at Welfare Park.

Bedlington took the lead on 37 minutes when Steve Preen scored.

Justin Keegan scored his first goal for the club after 39 minutes, then Mark Atkinson made it 3-0.

Paul Robinson scored the fourth, then chipped Barry Poskitt from the edge of the box for the fifth.

Esh Winning dropped into the bottom two after losing 3-0 at Billingham Town. Town took the lead from a Jamie Clarke penalty on 28 minutes after Jamie Arthur handled and was red-carded.

They got the second on 53 minutes through Richie Ward, then Clarke scored the third.

West Auckland came from behind to draw 2-2 at Chester-le-Street. The home side took the lead when Jonny Wightman hit the target, then Andy Cuthbertson scored the second.

West pulled one back on 41 minutes with a penalty when Colin Lawton was fouled. He then tucked the spot kick away and Andy Cole earned a point.

Jarrow Roofing went down 1-0 at Newcastle Benfield BP. Roofing keeper Andy Hoggeth was beaten by a 76th minute header from Jonny Brown.

Sunderland Nissan lost 2-0 at home to Morpeth, for whom Kevin Henderson scored twice.

Nissan played for most of the game with nine men after first Paddy Little then Chris Leonard were red-carded for violent conduct.

Ashington ended a run of six league games without a goal in a 3-3 draw with Dunston.

Paul Hogg scored first on ten minutes, but Dunston levelled through Alex Benjamin.

Graeme Armstrong volleyed in to put Dunston into the lead, then made it 3-1 before half-time. Ashington hit back in the last ten minutes when Alex Lawson scored and in stoppage time Mark Campbell got the equaliser.

In the other Second Division games, Marske United thumped Peterlee 8-2 at Mount Pleasant. Marske were three goals up inside the first 20 minutes, with Peterlee defender Mark Atkinson lobbing his own keeper to open the scoring.

Jon Stott and Peter Boldison scored the others, and after the break David Onions scored a hat-trick, with Chris Dunwell and Boldison making it 8-0. The landslide stopped when Marske's Simon Millington was red-carded and Peterlee pulled goals back through Paul Griffiths and Atkinson.

There's a three-way tie at the top as Spennymoor beat Hebburn 2-1.

Moors brought in striker Justin Perry, who played for them last season, and he scored the winner with just seven minutes left.

Washington are fourth after they won 2-1 at Alnwick thanks to a last-minute winner from Carl Magnay. Steve Burns put Washington into an early lead, but James Swordy levelled. Then 16-year-old Magnay fired home to give Washington the points.

Crook's winning run came to an end when they lost 2-1 at Ryton.

Ryton took the lead through Michael Cowan, but Crook levelled when Jonathan Milroy beat the advancing keeper.

Ryton gained their first win since August when Lee Garwood scored from the spot.

Northallerton scored three times in the last 20 minutes to win 3-0 at North Shields. Ross Diamond opened the scoring, then Paul Curry got the second and Dean Wilson the third.

Kennek Ryhope CA's four-game unbeaten run came to an end when they lost 1-0 at Penrith, for whom Willie Paul scored.

Whickham beat South Shields thanks to a last-minute winner from Ian Robson. Michael Ford opened the scoring, but Gary Innes levelled.

Stephen Brodie put Whickham into the lead, with Michael Parkinson scoring for Shields.

In the Durham Challenge Cup Darlington RA earned an away tie at Gateshead Low Fell after they beat Harton and Westoe 6-2 after extra time.

The RA were within four minutes of being knocked out as they trailed 2-0 to goals by Karl McMann and Dale Wells, but after one of the home players was dismissed they battled back.

Warren Byrne scored from the spot on 89 minutes, then Paul Freary levelled. Harton ran out of steam in the second period of extra time, and the RA scored through Freary, Byrne and Andrew Singlewood (two).

Many clubs held a one minute's silence in memory of Billingham Synthonia keeper Steve Tierney, who died last week.
