AN area of woodland has been given an official stamp of approval.
Freeholders Wood, near Aysgarth Falls, in Wensleydale, has received a certificate from the Forest Stewardship Council.
The document proves the woodland has been managed to a high standard.
The wood is owned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
Geoff Garrett, the authority's trees and woodland officer, said: "We are delighted we have obtained our first certificate. There are real benefits for woodland owners in having one.
"The logo stamped on timber indicates that it has been taken from sustainable forests and has not just been chopped down and replaced.
"The logo may also make the wood more saleable.
"We would encourage any woodland owners to consider having it certified and I would be happy to provide further information."
Cleatop Wood, near Settle, has also received a certificate.
