SIX bikers put their pedal power to the test in memory of a friend who died aged 32.
The team from the Meteorological Office at Leeming, which advises the RAF on the weather conditions for flying, did a 32-mile trek between Stockton and RAF Leeming in memory of David Lincoln.
It took them three hours to complete the journey, which, together with donations from Mr Lincoln's funeral, raised £1,280 for the neurosurgery ward at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, which looks after patients with illnesses and injuries of the brain and spinal cord.
Mr Lincoln's colleagues wanted to do something to help ward staff who cared for him.
Ward sister Sam Weaver said: "We would like to thank the bikers and everyone who helped make this donation possible.
"We will be using the money to buy equipment for the benefit and comfort of future patients."
