FIREFIGHTERS have answered a call for help from a hospice - and raised £500.
Cleveland Fire Brigade personnel raised funds for the Zoe's Place hospice for babies on Teesside with a raffle at an awards gala dinner at the Tall Trees Hotel, near Yarm.
At the event, 12 awards were presented to individuals in the brigade and local businesses who have played a part in helping making the community safer.
Paul Joyce, the brigade's director of business development, said: "Zoe's Place provides care free of charge to all families, and helps the infants they look after maintain their lifestyle as if at home and we are glad that we are able to help."
Hospice manager Mark Guidery said: "We are hugely grateful to our friends at the Cleveland Fire Brigade for this wonderful donation.
"Zoe's Place is unique in providing respite, palliative and terminal care to babies and toddlers in a nursery environment.
"Support such as this is crucial in helping to maintain our service to young children and their families."
