A CHARITY that finds temporary places for young homeless people to stay is appealing for funds before the busy Christmas period.
Stop2Night, at the Grange Road Baptist Church, in Darlington, is hoping people will pledge money so they can give homeless people a roof over their heads.
The charity was launched in 1993 with the aim of providing short-term emergency accommodation for people aged between 16 and 25 in Darlington and Teesdale.
Through Stop2Night, host families offer the youngsters an average of three nights' accommodation in their homes to enable them to get back on their feet.
Volunteer drivers take them to their homes so they can introduce them and ensure they settle in.
Bridget Chapman, Stop2Night's co-ordinator, said: "We've recently got two new hosts and a lady helping us on the telephones which is fantastic but we need extra funds to help us through our busiest period, which is in November, December and January.
"We're asking for people to pledge £10 at most so that we can help more people."
