THE Scarborough and Ryedale areas have been selected for a revolutionary fostering scheme.
Fostering Change aims to bring positive changes to the lives of youngsters aged ten to 16 who are in care and have complex needs.
The scheme, which has its origins in Oregon, in the US, targets problem youngsters who are thought to be at risk of criminality or anti-social behaviour in the future.
Councillor Caroline Patmore, North Yorkshire County Council's executive member for children's services, said: "Fostering Change is a brilliant way of trying to help young people in care make something of their lives and avoid the spiral of decline that they can so easily get trapped in."
Social services in North Yorkshire have set a target to recruit five treatment foster care families by the end of this year.
