A TEENAGER has been charged with arson after trying to set fire to her pyjamas.
Magistrates at Newton Aycliffe yesterday remanded the girl, from High Etherley, near Bishop Auckland, into secure accommodation.
Ciaran Grogan, prosecuting, told the court the 13-year-old was at home and was told to go to bed and leave her lighter downstairs. But she took her lighter with her, put her pyjamas on the floor and set fire to them.
Magistrates remanded her into secure accommodation and her case was adjourned to Newton Aycliffe youth court on Monday.
