A WOMAN arrested after a hit-and-run accident in Majorca that left a married couple dead has been named by island officials.
Josephine Anne Wallis, from Whitby, North Yorkshire, is alleged to have fled after knocking down Margaret O'Sullivan, 48, and her husband Matti, 49, in the popular resort town of Santa Ponsa, on September 21. Mrs O'Sullivan was killed instantly and her husband died several hours later in hospital. They were on holiday from the guest house they ran in Bantry, West Cork.
Ms Wallis is accused of homicide through negligence and failing to stop and give assistance.
The 27-year-old, who lives in the area, is now on bail of £8,000. The conditions of her bail were not released.
The incident happened at 1am in the centre of the resort, when the O'Sullivans were believed to have been walking back to their holiday hotel.
An island official said the trial would be several months away at the earliest
