YOUNG artists have been giving up their evenings to create large-scale graffiti art.
Nineteen people have taken part in the project, called Urban Art, which has produced a diverse range of artwork, inspired by Hartlepool Museum and Art Gallery.
The students visited either The Museum of Hartlepool or Hartlepool Art Gallery and photographed and sketched objects that inspired them.
They then planned their design on paper before transferring it onto the boards, which in some cases are as large as 20ft wide by 8ft high.
Designs include a modern version of the Hartlepool seal, views of Christ Church, medieval poems and a contemporary take on the many old faces seen in the museum's photographs.
Groups of young people at Preston Hall Museum, Stockton, and Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, are also involved in the project.
All the artwork will be on display at the Urban Art Festival on Saturday, October 15, from 10am to 5pm, at the R Kade Skate Park, in Redcar.
The festival will include graffiti art workshops, skateboard customisation, skateboarding demonstrations and a skateboarding competition.
People can take their skateboards to compete in the Snickers Best Trick Competition, with cash prizes for the best tricks of the day.
