CELEBRITIES flocked to a North-East golf course yesterday to take part in a charity event with Auf Wiedersehen Pet star Tim Healy.
The 14th Tim Healy Celebrity Golf Classic was held at the Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club, on the outskirts of Durham City, to raise money for the Children's Foundation and was followed by a cabaret night and auction.
The day attracted 32 teams of three and participants included the actor's co-star and friend Kevin Whately, snooker player Willy Thorne, darts player John Lowe and North-East musicians Brendan Healey and John Miles.
The cabaret featured performances by Miles, best known for his 1970s hit single Music, and Three Hours Gone, the band featuring Mr Healy's 16-year-old son Matthew.
Mr Healy said he was hoping to raise several thousand pounds for the charity.
He said: "It's all down to what we make in the auction. We auction things that people have donated, golf clubs, flight tickets and paintings. I'm not going to put a figure on it but it will be thousands of pounds.''
The Children's Foundation funds research to combat childhood diseases and conditions such as cerebral palsy and autism.
