VANDALS have threatened the future of Sunday league football games.
The changing rooms of Redcar and District Sunday league, in east Cleveland, have been burned to the ground by arsonists.
It is the third time in a fortnight that arsonists have struck at the changing rooms, in the Trunk Road, Redcar.
Peter May, station officer at Redcar Fire Station, said: "It took us two hours to get this fire under control and the building is nothing more than a shell now.''
Fire crews from Redcar, Grangetown, Coulby Newham and Middlesbrough were called to Friday night's blaze.
There was severe damage to the complex, with an area 30 metres by 20 metres completely destroyed.
Phil Cobb, who runs Redcar's Clarendon Hotel football club, said: "The whole league could fold because there is nowhere for the players to get changed now."
