AN agency has been set up to help carry out home improvements for elderly and disabled home owners.
Care and Repair Durham and Chester-le-Street, which hopes to improve up to 200 homes in the area by March, provides clients with help to adapt, improve and repair their properties to help them remain in their own homes.
Among the services being offered are the installation of ramps, stairlifts or level access showers.
The service will be provided through the Three Rivers Housing Group, based at Pity Me.
Councillor Linda Ebbatson, leader of Chester-le-Street District Council, said: "The need to help someone to maintain their home and adapt it to meet their changing needs is increasing, particularly with an ageing population."
Anyone interested in the service can contact Care and Repair Durham and Chester-le-Street on 0191-375 3690.
