A TRIO of walkers have proved they are in a class of their own when it comes to fundraising.
Norton School deputy headteacher Mark Tilling and technician Don Rose were joined by friend Dave Turner for a 26-mile walk to the school from Loftus.
Staff and pupils at the school - which is £17,000 short of the £50,000 needed for its Humanities Specialist College status application - greeted the weary walkers after completing sponsored laps around the school grounds themselves.
The walk was part of a wider fundraising drive, which included a race night at Billingham Synthonia Club last Wednesday.
Headteacher Paul Wray said local businesses and sponsorship had already made a huge contribution towards the £50,000 target, but with the deadline only six weeks away, more was needed.
He said: "The walkers are exhausted but very proud of their achievement and the money they have raised for the school. I would also like to personally thank everyone who has been involved and supported the school."
