An emergency was sparked when smoke was seen coming from a Pegasus Boeing 737 after it had landed at Newcastle Airport at 9.11am yesterday. A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokes-man said it was initially thought smoke was coming from the engine, but it was established that it was from the landing gear. It was decided not to evacuate the jet.
