A residents' association is looking forward to holding more community activities after receiving a cash boost.
Chilton West Residents' Association was given almost £500 to help it buy a marquee to host events that its base at Henderson Community House, in Coleridge Road, cannot accommodate.
The association was presented with a North East and Cumbria Co-op Community Dividend grant of £497.44 by John Sims, of the Darlington and Dales area committee.
At the presentation on Tuesday night, Mr Sims said: "We like to give this money to groups who help themselves, such as Chilton West Residents Association because it ends up benefiting a wider community. We hope that lots of people can enjoy the new facility." Association chairman Margaret Taylor said: "We thank the Co-op for something that will improve facilities and help us hold more and better events."
