A COUNCIL has cautioned its tenants to check the identities of callers valuing the price of their properties.
A Chester-le-Street District Council spokesman said the authority had commissioned the company Savills to carry out a stock condition survey on their behalf. The survey will begin on Monday. Employees from Savills will have appropriate forms of identification on them.
A council spokesman said: "It is vital that tenants ask for positive identification."
