FORMER cleaner Lily Pringle is celebrating reaching her century.
One of the Hambleton district's oldest residents, Mrs Pringle has lived at St Catherine's Care Home in Shipton-by-Beningbrough for nearly five years.
Councillor Mollie Haigh was among the family and friends who ensured her special day was a happy one.
Mrs Pringle moved to North Yorkshire from Stevenage ten years ago to be closer to her family.
She spent most of her working life in London and is lovingly remembered as "the treasure" who looked after the offices of Women's Own magazine.
She was senior office cleaner at the magazine's city-based offices for 15 years and when she retired, in 1965, they paid glowing tribute to her in the magazine.
