STAFF at an opticians will be raising cash for charity when they take a dip in the North Sea next month.
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, the team from Specsavers opticians, in Redcar, have decided to take the plunge on Saturday, October 22 - wearing only shorts and T-shirts.
The 17 members of staff will be going to work in Breakthrough Breast Cancer T-shirts and jeans in the week leading up to the dip and will be inviting shoppers to sponsor their splash for charity.
Store director Julie Breen said: "Bounding into the ice cold sea in the middle of October may not sound too much fun, but we have set our sights on raising lots of money for our cause and our staff are determined to see this challenge through to the end.
"We would be really grateful for any donations from the public for this challenge."
The Redcar store, along with Specsavers opticians across the country, is also selling a range of pink merchandise for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, including exclusive, limited edition rose-tinted glasses, costing £10.
Pink pin badges and wristbands are also on sale in-store throughout the month for a suggested donation of £1 each.
Anyone who would like to support the Redcar team can turn out to cheer them on the day.
They will be making a splash in the sea at 3pm, opposite the Las Vegas Amusement Arcade.
Alternatively, people can buy merchandise or donate cash at the store in Redcar High Street.
