ORGANISERS of a family day in a developing Darlington park have hailed the event a success.
The fun day, in North Park, was the first event since a regeneration project on the run-down park began several months ago.
The Friends of North Park group, which maintains the park, organised the event to show how far work had progressed, and encourage local poeple to get involved.
Sunday's event raised £1,165 to help with the regeneration project, and has been added to the £14,000 the group has already raised.
The group is now eager to decide how to spend the money, and members have asked locals to contribute their views.
Friends group chairman Councillor Steve Jones thanked everyone who attended. He said: "It was excellent that so many people turned out to support us.
"It was a great crowd, and a really good day. We are very pleased with the money we raised and would like feedback from people who use the park as to how it should be used."
The next meeting of the Friends will be at 6pm tonight, in the Rolling Mills Social Club.
