YOUNGSTERS have produced an art display representing and promoting the different cultures in their community.
Pupils from Bowesfield and St Cuthbert's primary schools, in Stockton, completed an exhibition of arts from around the world to showcase the diversity within the Parkfield/Mill Lane area.
Fifteen pupils, aged seven to 11, learned traditional crafts, including clay pot-making from Africa, weaving from Ecuador, henna painting from Pakistan and traditional gipsy flower-making. The children also looked into their family histories.
Following a successful showing at Stockton Library, the work - including photos, painting and clay pots - is now on display at Bowesfield Primary School.
The project was supported and co-ordinated by community worker Vikki Turner, and Hannah Laughton, inter-generational project co-ordinator for Stockton Libraries.
The Heritage Lottery Fund provided financial backing.
Ms Turner said: "The children really enjoyed learning about new cultures and the activities were very well received. Friendships were also made, which is lovely to see."
