A CLUB for collectors of dolls houses was launched at the weekend.

Healthcare charity Sue Ryder Care is one of the UK's largest importers of dolls houses, and has launched Hickleton Collectors' Club to cater for enthusiasts.

Six North-East shops have been selected to sell exclusive items - in Bishop Auckland, County Durham; Saltburn, east Cleveland; Morpeth and Berwick, Northumberland; Fulwell, Sunderland; and Wallsend, North Tyneside.

Bishop Auckland shop manager Beverley Pratt said: "We have been selling them for a few years already and it has just taken off, so we thought we would start a club.

"Things in miniature are just fascinating for people, and they like the idea of a miniature version of their own homes."

The charity, which is looking for volunteers, has aimed the club mainly at adults.

It will give members access to special offers and two free gifts of furniture that is not available in stores.

People can sign up to the club, which costs £4.99 for a year's membership, by filling in a form at any Sue Ryder Care shop.
