ACTRESS and author Carol Drinkwater made an emotional visit to the World of James Herriot yesterday.
It was the first time she had been to the tourist attraction in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Carol played Helen Herriot for ten years in the TV series All Creatures Great and Small, based on the books by Thirsk vet Alf Wight.
She was given a tour of the centre, which is in the former home and surgery of Mr Wight.
"It is very emotional to be here," she said. "I hadn't expected it to be quite so detailed. It was like walking into part of my past life."
She was a guest on BBC Radio York's lunchtime show, which was broadcast live from the centre.
Carol is in the UK promoting her latest book, the Illustrated Olive Farm, which is a companion to her Olive trilogy.
She is the second star of All Creatures Great and Small to visit the centre in recent weeks. Peter Davison, who played Tristan Farnon, called in while filming his latest series, Distant Shores, in Northumberland, earlier this month.
