A FIREWORKS extravaganza last night illuminated plans for the transformation of Darlington town centre.
Work has begun on the £6.5m pedestrian heart project, with traffic being diverted away from much of the centre.
And the borough council last night laid on a host of entertainment to highlight the project to residents.
Music, street entertainment and a fireworks show was provided in the Market Square.
Further activities take place today and tomorrow, from 11.30am to 4pm, in the newly-pedestrianised area on High Row and Northgate.
