MP Helen Goodman visited a new charity to find out about the work it is doing to help young people.
The Bishop Auckland MP met parents who founded the Step Together charity, at Spennymoor Day Care Centre, on Friday.
The group was launched to provide free access to a little-recognised learning process, conductive education, to youngsters who have motor disorders - mainly those with cerebral palsy.
Ms Goodman met some of the 18 youngsters who take part in weekly sessions at Spennymoor Day Centre.
Step Together will hold a bag pack at Asda in Spennymoor on October 22 to boost funds. It relies on donations and funds it raises.
