MUSICIAN Richard Gratwick is returning to his former school to play a concert for charity.
Yarm School's most successful musician is studying mathematics and philosophy at Oxford University.
Unusually for a non-music undergraduate, he is playing first violin in the Oxford University Orchestra, an indication of his prowess.
He is also leader of the orchestra, another first for a Yarm pupil.
Mr Gratwick is returning to Yarm on Wednesday for the 7.30pm programme, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
The charity is close to his heart, as he recently lost his father to the disease.
Tickets are £5 and £2.50 and are available from the school on (01642) 786023.
Mr Gratwick will be accompanied by Christine Purvis on piano.
He began playing the violin in 1993, at age seven, when he was in his first year at Yarm Preparatory School.
He spent the remainder of his school life at Yarm, completing his A-levels in 2003 before heading to Magdalen College, Oxford
