Invitation to school reunion: THE class of 1952 from Annfield Plain Secondary Modern School is holding a reunion at Annfield Plain Cricket Club, on October 11, at 7.30pm. Sale date: Consett Methodist Church, in Station Road, is to hold a sale of household goods and clothing in the church hall, at 10.30am tomorrow. Proceeds go towards the £40,000 Raising The Roof appeal, to replace the roof on the church and hall.
Flower Festival: St Patrick's Church, in Dipton, will hold a flower festival with the theme of musicals at the weekend. It will be held from 1pm to 6pm, on Saturday, and from noon until closing prayers, at 6pm, on Sunday. Entry will be by donation, with refreshments on sale.
Yoga Course: An eight-week yoga course for beginners starts at Chester-le-Street community centre, at 1.30pm, on Sunday. Classes, taught by a fully-qualified teacher, last 90 minutes and the full course costs £30. For details, ring 0191-388 4752.
CRAFT FAIR: A craft fair takes place from 10am to 2pm, on Saturday, at the Parish Centre, in Church Chare, Chester-le-Street. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
HOUSE PLANS: A planning application has been submitted to Derwentside District Council seeking planning permission to build a house at Harelaw Farm, in North Road, Harelaw, Stanley.
SWEET SUCCESS: A free course in sugar craft starts today, at Craghead Village Hall, near Stanley, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. People can learn how to decorate a basic celebration cake with sugar paste and make sugar paste roses and leaves. No prior knowledge is needed. COFFEE MORNING: There will be a coffee morning at Tanfield Lea community centre, near Stanley, at 10.30am on Saturday, October 1. Everyone is welcome.
HOME SAFETY: Members of the Darlington and Durham Fire and Rescue Service will visit the Upper Dales Residents' Association meeting at Percy Gardens Community Room, in Delves Lane, near Consett, at 6.30pm, on Monday, October 3. They will give a talk on home safety and take names for the fitting of free smoke alarms.
Defence class: People over 13 can learn how to defend themselves on a course in wing chun kung fu that is held on Sundays, between 11am and 1pm, at the Chester-le-Street Community Association's centre, Newcastle Bank. For details, call course leader John Agar, on 0191-410 0613.
