THIRTY years of twinning between Easington District and the German town of Baesweiler is to be celebrated next month.
The link between the two was forged on April 9, 1975. Baesweiler as the town now boasts an Easington Strasse, complete with shops and bars.
Thirty years on, visits to Baesweiler are still being organised twice a year.
To mark the milestone, a function is to be held on Saturday, October 8, in Peterlee Leisure Centre.
Tickets costing £10 will include a three-course meal and entertainment. They are available from Mel Kipling on 0191-5270501 extension 2428.
Any families hosting German visitors for the celebrations will receive tickets.
