A HEALTHCARE team from Derwentside Primary Care Trust (PCT) has won an award for developing a learning programme for matrons.
The Independent Care Home Matrons Forum team, led by continuing health care co-ordinator Dorothy O'Connor, and continuing health care facilitator Pauline Walls, won the Primary Care College Learning Champions Award.
The team, working closely with Durham and Chester-le-Street PCT, were recognised for "excellent work" in developing an integrated learning forum for matrons in Independent Care Homes.
The team promoted working in partnership within an area that often has felt isolated from mainstream NHS.
More than 80 delegates from across ten PCTs gathered at the Primary Care College for County Durham and Tees Valley's annual Learning Champions Awards, at the Samsung Centre, Wynyard.
Ms O'Connor said: "We are really pleased to have been recognised for this award and delighted to receive it on behalf of the rest of the team."
