FUNDRAISERS trying to buy a wheelchair for a boy with cerebral palsy are staging a charity night next week.
Josh Jackson, aged seven, from Newton Aycliffe, needs a specially-built chair to give him more independence and help his development.
Friends of mother Sarah launched a fundraising campaign at the Great North Walk, in July, when a group of parents and children completed the wheelchair route.
Ms Jackson said: "A bespoke chair would make a big difference to Josh. It would assist with his overall condition, help his posture and give him the independence he wants.
"He can walk a few steps with sticks but not very far. People have been very supportive and generous."
The event stars comedienne Sue Sweeney and takes place at the Postchaise Hotel, in Bishop Auckland Market Place on Thursday, at 7.30pm.
There is a disco, pie and peas supper and raffle. Tickets are £5 from (01388) 608208, 661502 or 661296.
