PEOPLE in Darlington are being warned not to leave car keys on display, after a spate of crimes.
A yellow Honda Jazz was stolen from Banks Terrace, Hurworth Place, between 6.30pm and midnight on Saturday after the keys were taken from a hallway.
A similar crime happened when a thief took keys from a house in Davison Road over the weekend, before stealing the green Volkswagen Golf estate outside.
And on Sunday, a home was burgled in Windermere Court. The thief stole the car, but it has been recovered.
In addition, a red Peugeot 406 was stolen from Eastbourne Road on Sunday night or Monday morning, a blue Vauxhall Astra from Louisa Street, between 5pm on Saturday and 4am on Sunday, and a white Vauxhall Astra from Yarm Road between 7.30pm on Friday and 11.30am on Saturday.
A red and black Honda scooter was also stolen from Headingley Crescent between 11.30pm on Saturday and 1.30am on Sunday.
There were car break-ins in Beaumont Street, Bowen Road, Blackmoor Close, Spring Court, Amiens Close and Bates Avenue and a wheel of a Nissan Micra, in Whinfield Road, was stolen late on Friday or early Saturday.
