A COUPLE are celebrating after their bungalow was the 15,000th home to be modernised by a housing group.
Joan and George Watson's two-bedroom bungalow, in Concord, Washington, has received a new kitchen, bathroom, internal doors, windows and partial re-wiring.
The modernisation marks a landmark for the Sunderland Housing Group, which carried out the work.
Mr Watson said: "The workmen from the group have worked really hard to complete our modernisation and this is obvious in the results."
Ian Porter, from Sunderland Housing, presented the couple with a bouquet of flowers and a burglar alarm to finish off their modernisation.
He said: "The 15,000th modernisation is a huge landmark for the group."
