DR MIKE PITKETHLY has been appointed chief executive of the North-East Centre of Excellence for Nanotechnology, Micro and Photonic Systems (Cenamps).
The 44-year-old co-founder and former commercial director of QinetiQ Nanomaterials started work last week.
He has a strong technical background and has specialised in nano and microtechnologies for more than ten years.
As an experienced presenter and speaker at international and UK conferences, he has a network of contacts in nano and micro technology.
Charles Bragg, Cenamps chairman, said: "I am delighted to welcome Mike to Cenamps and I know his experience and enthusiasm will prove invaluable.
"We will build on our past and present successes and put all of our efforts into making the centre globally recognised as a world leader."
