RESIDENTS turned out in force for their annual village show at the weekend.
West Cornforth Community Centre was transformed with a fine display of fruit, vegetables and flowers as it celebrated its long-time tradition.
The green-fingered element of the village may have excelled themselves with this year's harvest, but their artistic talents and culinary skills were also impressive.
Joan Potts proved unbeaten again as the winner of the preserves and cakes section of the show after winning it several times in a row and also clinched the best in show for the flower section for the first time.
She said: "It was nice to win the preserves section again and lovely to win the flower section.
"I am delighted that the village show continues and has so much support from the village."
The event, which is sponsored by the parish council and local businesses and organisations, enjoyed a steady stream of visitors throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Organisers said they were proud of the success of the event.
The chairman of the community centre, Tommy Dodds, said: "People have been wandering around saying how nicely it has been set out, and it is nice to see how many people have contributed to the show."
Trophy winners from the show were:
Best In Vegetable Section: F. Hodgson.
Best In Flower Section: J Potts.
Best In Handicrafts: V Wier.
Overall Winner in Preserves and Cakes: J Potts.
Best Pot Leeks in Show: J Hudson.
