A TOWN council is raising a cup to back the World's Biggest Coffee Morning event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief later this month.
The event will be staged at Peterlee Information Centre, in Upper Yoden Way, at the Castle Dene Shopping Centre, in Peterlee, east Durham, on Friday September 30.
Peterlee Town Council is providing tea, coffee and biscuits for anyone calling at the centre, between 10am and noon.
They will be asked to make a minimum donation of £1 per person, but this also includes entry into a prize draw to win one of many gifts.
There will also be a 50p "guess the weight of the hamper" which is stocked with supplies of tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits allowing the winner to create their own coffee morning or tea break event.
There is also a chance to win an Audi A2 in a national competition at £1 per try, with all proceeds also going to the Macmillan charity.
Linda Scott, the council's information assistant, said the town council decided to support Macmillan as it was, "such a worthy cause".
"Cancer can effect anyone at any time," she said.
"It isn't choosy and not only is the patient affected, but their family and friends are too."
Further information on the coffee morning is available on 0191-586 4450.
