A FLOWER show has pulled in a bumper attendance of 36,646.
Although Harrogate's three-day Autumn Flower Show missed breaking last year's all-time record of 37,385, director Roger Brownbridge said organisers the North of England Horticultural Society were delighted with the figure.
"We can't go on breaking records years after year. But we have broken through for the past few years to the 36,000 to 37,000 mark," said Mr Brownbridge, recalling that the 1997 event attracted 28,160.
A patchy weather forecast probably hit Friday's attendance but Saturday (12,899) and Sunday (11,192) brought record numbers.
Officials were also pleased by public feedback that said emphatically the event had consistently achieved a relaxed atmosphere, which is something organisers strive for.
"That is what the public like about the event. Normally, we get one or two complaints but we did not have a single one from the public this time. So we must be doing something right," said Mr Brownbridge.
