UniBond League: Relieved Bishop Auckland came from behind to lift themselves off the bottom with a 2-1 home win over Kidsgrove.

Bishops are now third bottom and in good heart ahead of their game at Goole tomorrow and their FA Cup trip to Skelmersdale on Saturday.

Manager Brian Honour, who was impressed by debutant Michael Coghlan, said: "When we were losing at half time, everybody was thinking here we go again because they'd only had one shot at goal.

"But the players kept battling away in the second half, and got what they deserved. It was a relief for everybody. We've got something to build on."

Bishops forced nine corners in the first half and Mark Sheeran and Chris I'Anson both missed chances before Kidsgrove took the lead on 38 minutes when Brian Matthews lobbed Darren Horrigan.

But Bishops levelled on 68 minutes when Dale Jardine crossed from the left for Sheeran to head home and they got the winner with seven minutes left when Chris I'Anson scored from the edge of the box.

In the Premier Division, Gateshead drew 1-1 with Telford at the International Stadium. Kevin Henderson scored first for Gateshead but Luke Reynolds equalised in the second half.
