A Darlington solicitor has completed the gruelling London Triathlon to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Nick Poole, partner at Latimer Hinks solicitors, took on the Olympic course - the largest event of its kind in the world.

Mr Poole completed a 1500m swim in 38 minutes at Royal Victoria Docks, a 40km cycle ride in 91 minutes and a 10km run in 55 minutes.

He is now preparing to take part in tomorrow's Great North Run. He will be joined by two colleagues, solicitor Mark Lewis and legal executive Natalie Walker.

Mr Poole said: "Although I ran the race of my life down in London and was pretty pleased with my times, the one hour 40 minutes of the leading competitors really put them in the shade. I can certainly say that it's a challenge to do all three events back-to-back, but it was fantastic to be part of such a prestigious event.

"I have now turned my attention to the Great North Run, which I have completed in the past a couple of times and it's another great event to be involved in."
