AS CRICKET fever sweeps the country a group of youngsters have also been taking the sport by storm.

Andrew Horner, Daniel Craggs, Christopher Grayson, Craig George and James Robinson, all from Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, have been playing for Bishop Auckland Cricket Club in the Durham under-13 league this season.

Coached by club chairman Mark Romains, the youngsters have won all the five pairs matches they played in the first half of the season and went on to win a play-off against the North section, as well as taking home the R S Pratt Trophy.

Bishop Barrington is building a new sports hall and hopes to become a specialist sports college.

Headteacher Bruce Guthrie said: "They played exceptionally well."
