A NORTH-East businessman is in the running to pick up a landmark medal tomorrow.
The 25th Great North Run marks a milestone for Tony Taylor as he aims to win a full set medallions.
The 57-year-old has taken part in every Great North Run since the event started in 1981, raising more than £10,000 for charities across the region, including the Alzheimer's Society, Daisy Chain and the NSPCC.
The race also coincides with the 25th anniversary of his marketing agency, Image Group.
He said: "The Great North Run is a great day. The crowds really keep you going and the atmosphere is fantastic. I'm proud to have done all of the runs for some great causes and it's now become of a bit of a habit, I can't stop. I even arrange holidays around the run.
"My best time was in 1989 when I completed the course in 1 hour and 29 minutes and the worst was in 1986, 2 hours 30 minutes, when I completed two half-marathons in two days."
This year he is running for the Alzheimer's Society and is looking forward to receiving his 25th medal and T-shirt to add to his collection.
