A GROUP of elderly residents has switched on to modern technology.
Warden Call equipment has been installed at six sheltered housing complexes across the district.
It allows existing devices, such as flood detectors and fall alarms, to be linked to the emergency call network.
The equipment was launched on Monday by East Durham Homes chairman Brian Tuddenham and District of Easington Council vice-chairman Councillor Charlie Walker.
East Durham Homes is hoping to upgrade all Warden Call equipment over the next five years and a replacement programme is being drawn up.
