SUCCESSFUL young author Kat Promfret is to give tips on how to get published, in a talk in County Durham this week.
The writer, 28, who was born in Durham, has received plaudits for her debut novel, Paradise Jazz, which tells the story of two women who have to confront a violent and secret past.
Ms Pomfret, who was shortlisted for the East Midlands playwriting competition, will be at Durham County Council's Clayport Library, in Durham City, on Thursday, from 7.15pm.
After studying English at Birmingham University, Ms Pomfret drew inspirationfor the novel from Nottingham, where she lives and works. It explores the themes of race, identity and family.
She will talk about getting published, how she manages her life around her writing and the setting for the book.
The event is free, but places should be reserved by calling the library on 0191-386 4003.
