AN arts festival will return to a North Yorkshire market town later this month after a year's break.
Organisers of Northallerton's Zest Fest chose to have a year off as the week-long celebration of local art was going to clash with a visit by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
But it will return this year with new events and some old favourites.
Councillor Neville Huxtable, of Hambleton District Council, said: "This week recognises the wealth of local talent in Hambleton, and it celebrates the Hambleton Forum as a first-class arts venue.
"It is a great week to come along and see just what is on offer there, as well as to support and encourage the many people who will be entertaining us."
The week will start on Wednesday, September 28, with Our Town Entertains, a variety show staged by local amateur groups.
The show will be hosted by drag act and comic Ruby Diamond. Folk music, punk rock and poetry will feature on the Thursday.
Highlights include Joseph Porter and his new band Red Wedding. On Friday, seven local groups will compete in a battle of the bands contest.
Different dance styles will be showcased in workshops and demonstrations at the Forum on Saturday.
Northallerton Town Hall will also host demonstrations, some of which will be outside if the weather allows. The day will finish was a ceilidh at the Forum. The evening will also feature demonstrations of jazz and belly dancing.
