AN extensive programme of remodelling and refurbishment of Darlington council flats is under way as part of the town's housing business plan.
The borough council's community and public protection group recognised that the flats, built in the 1960s and 70s, did not meet the expectations of current and future tenants.
Work to improve three blocks of flats in Dinsdale Crescent will be completed during the next financial year.
And feedback from tenants, has been positive.
Flats in Sherbourne House, Branksome and Mount Pleasant House, in Coniscliffe Road, where bedsits are being converted to flats, will also be completed this year.
