MORE money is being ploughed into a successful scheme to help businesses protect themselves against crime.
Hartlepool Borough Council's grants committee has allocated £15,000 to support the Business Security Scheme in the current financial year.
The money is being made available from a portion of the council's capital budget set aside to fund community safety projects.
Firms can apply to the Business Security Scheme for up to 50 per cent of the cost of security measures recommended by the police crime prevention officer, to a maximum of £2,500.
Eligible work can include CCTV cameras, alarms, roller shutters, fencing, window grilles and security doors.
The scheme is particularly aimed at helping manufacturing and associated service sector firms on industrial estates along Brenda Road.
Businesses seeking further information about the security scheme can contact Israr Hussain on (01429) 523505.
