PLANS have been put forward for the £8m restoration of a North theatre.
Owner Harrogate Borough Council has applied to extend and alter the North Yorkshire town's Royal Hall, as well as for permission to restore the Grade II* listed theatre.
The building is riddled with crumbling concrete and has been closed since 2002.
The plans are expected to be dealt with before November.
The National Heritage Lottery Fund has agreed to give £6m towards the project, with the council putting in £2m.
The Royal Hall Restoration Trust has pledged to raise £1.8m towards extras, including furnishings and curtains.
Workers have recently cleared the hall of seats ready for the work.
The hall shut when decaying concrete made parts of it unsafe. Earlier, the circle had been closed and part of a ceiling collapsed, forcing complete closure.
It is hoped work will start in February.
