A TRADITIONAL garden party will take place later this month offering entertainment for all the family.
The Richmondshire Open Spaces Appeal (Rosa) is hosting the event at Sandford House, Richmond, on Sunday, September 18, from 2pm to 5pm.
Visitors will be able to explore the two-acre Victorian garden, enjoy a complimentary cream tea and take part in a wide range of family-orientated activities.
Entertainment will be provided by Richmond School Circus and members of the Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society.
Sandford House is the home of Baroness Hale of Richmond, the UK's first female law lord.
Event organiser Veronica Robson said: "It isn't often that people have the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, which provides a private oasis on the edge of the town.
"We are keen that this should be an event for the whole family to enjoy and there will be lots of entertainment geared towards children, including pony rides, treasure hunts, croquet and garden chess."
Sandford House is situated on the outskirts of Richmond on the road to Brompton-on-Swale. Limited car parking is available.
Rosa is raising £120,000 to buy 88 hectares of land around Richmond being sold off by the district council.
Tickets, which cost £7.50, are available from Veronica Robson on (01748) 824218 or Sue Appleby on (07845) 494323.
Children under 12 get in free, but must be accompanied by an adult
