A PARK which is the subject of major regeneration work may have more security cameras installed to protect the project's progress.
Darlington's North Park is protected by closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras from the neighbouring North Road cemetery, but the whole of the park is not covered by surveillance.
The Friends of North Park group, which is overseeing the renovation, wants to install another camera to give better coverage.
The group has already raised more than £14,000 in grants, and members are looking to become a registered charity to encourage fundraising.
The park will have shelters installed for youngsters to gather safely. The group is also looking at building changing facilities for sports.
However, concerns were raised that the current CCTV system did not cover where the shelters were to be placed.
Representatives from the group plan to visit the CCTV main control room at Darlington Town Hall to get a better understanding of where another camera would need to be placed, and how effective the existing coverage is.
The next meeting of the Friends of North Park group is on Tuesday, September 27, in the Rolling Mills Social Club.
l The park will host a family fun day on Sunday, September 18, from 2pm. Attractions include a brass band, kite flying, fairground rides and stalls
