A CHOIR is on the lookout for singers as it begins preparations for a major concert.
Durham Choral Society is resuming rehearsals for the season, which will include a performance of Gala and Glora, in Durham Cathedral in January.
The work, which celebrates County Durham's mining heritage and the Durham Miners' Gala, was commissioned by the society from Durham-born composer Will Todd and was premiered last year.
Anyone interested can contact musical director, Richard Brice, on 0191-386 1839
The society will also perform William Walton's Belshazzar's Feast, which celebrates the fall of Babylon and the joy of the enslaved Jews.
The choir rehearses on Wednesdays, starting tomorrow, at St Margaret's Primary School in Durham, at 7.30pm.
The society's publicity secretary, Dr Joyce Jordan, said: "We are looking in particular for sopranos and basses, but do telephone the chairman, John Goodwill, on 0190-384 5515 or the musical director, Richard Brice, on 0191-386 1839 whatever your vocal range and let us all make a joyful noise."
